It's District DualsTime
Updated: Jan 31
The District 10 Duals start this week and our favorite team is seeded first for the event! Read on to see what we need to do to get to the state Tourney.

The complete tournament bracket is at the bottom of this report.
Overview
3Fresh off a very successful week of competition, top seeded Reynolds gets back to the mats on Saturday morning in a quarterfinal match against either Grove City (9th seed, 8-) or Saegertown (8th seed, 9-9). Those schools face off in the round of 16 at Saegertown. Fans should remember (I certainly do) that it was Saegertown that snapped the Raider nine year reign of D10 Duals so it is unwise to overlook any match on Saturday. In the first match of the New Year, we defeated Grove City 56-11. We have not wrestled Saegertown this year.
If we win that match, our semifinal opponent is either Corry (5th seed, 11-1) or Commodore Perry (4th seed, 12-2). In last year's dual match, CP had us on the ropes before the Raiders pulled of a string individual victories to survive and claim the school's 900th victory in our storied history. Under the guidance of former Raider great, Kevin Drew, CP and its co-op partner Lakeview, continues to improve. State ranked Corry has a great record, too, with it's only loss to District 7 power Mount Pleasant.
Note that I only previewed the most likely teams that Reynolds may face if they continue winning. If the week's preliminary matches have an upset, I will update this preview.
Last Week in Raider Wrestling
This past week, Reynolds won a big match against Greenville to cap their D10 Region title. That, along with their Ft LeBeouf win at the Ultimate Duals, earned the Raiders the number one seed in District 10.
They followed that match with a really strong showing and a 5th place (out of 42) effort at the tough Ultimate Warriors Tournament at West Branch over the weekend. Six Raiders earned medals with:
Jaylen Wagner winning a championship and continuing to knock off ranked wrestlers and former state placewinners.
Vito Gentile had similar quality victories and finished 2nd place.
Frosh Waylen Waite got to wrestle down at his regular weight class and knocked off the 9th, 8th and 3rd seeded wrestlers on the way to getting a 4th place medal. It was a truly inspired perfomance.
Brayden McCloskey posted some big wins and a broken nose on the way to his 5th place.
Chase Bell and Tino Gentile wrestled well in gaining 7th place in their weight classes.
Additionally, Logan Zagorski posted a 5-1 record on his way to earning a 3rd place medal in the JV tournament!
Most every wrestler scored team points - something that is needed when competing for tournament titles.
Tournament Schedule & Tickets
Get your tickets online HERE.
The first round begins on Either Wednesday (2/1) or Thursday (2/2) evening for teams not receiving byes into the quarterfinals. The higher seeded team of each match will host the events.
On Saturday, February 4, Sharon will host the final three rounds:
Quarterfinals (9:00am)
Semifinals (3:00pm)
Finals (5:00pm)
Both finalists will advance to the State tournament. There is not a true second opportunity - the finalist teams stand as is. At states, the 2nd place team will have to wrestle a preliminary match against the 4th place team from District 7 (location is not determined) on Monday , February 6. That winner and the other teams meet in Hershey for a three day tournament Thursday to Saturday, February 9-11.
The brackets can be viewed at the bottom of this preview.
