The District 10 Duals start this week and our favorite team is seeded first for the event! Read on to see what we need to do to get to the state Tourney.
The complete tournament bracket is at the bottom of this report.
Overview
3Fresh off a very successful week of competition, top seeded Reynolds gets back to the mats on Saturday morning in a quarterfinal match against either Grove City (9th seed, 8-) or Saegertown (8th seed, 9-9). Those schools face off in the round of 16 at Saegertown. Fans should remember (I certainly do) that it was Saegertown that snapped the Raider nine year reign of D10 Duals so it is unwise to overlook any match on Saturday. In the first match of the New Year, we defeated Grove City 56-11. We have not wrestled Saegertown this year.
If we win that match, our semifinal opponent is either Corry (5th seed, 11-1) or Commodore Perry (4th seed, 12-2). In last year's dual match, CP had us on the ropes before the Raiders pulled of a string individual victories to survive and claim the school's 900th victory in our storied history. Under the guidance of former Raider great, Kevin Drew, CP and its co-op partner Lakeview, continues to improve. State ranked Corry has a great record, too, with it's only loss to District 7 power Mount Pleasant.
Note that I only previewed the most likely teams that Reynolds may face if they continue winning. If the week's preliminary matches have an upset, I will update this preview.
