Grove City Scouting Report

Here is your insider scoop on tomorrow's opponent for the Reynolds Raiders.

Reynolds (2-0) face their toughest dual meet opponent to-date in this young season when they travel to Grove City to continue their long rivalry with the Eagles. This is the 60th meeting between the schools with Ryenolds winning all 59 of the previous matches.

Head coach Wes Phipps has a solid lineup that might match well against the Raiders. Several of his wrestlers have winning records and a some of them have been very successful over the years.

Individual Notes of interest:

Hudson Wolbert:

  • 3 of his 6 wins are by forfeit

Anthony Davis:

  • 1st year starter.

  • Won by forfeit 3 times

  • In others matches he us 1-2 by pin (each 1st period).

Hudson Hohman:

  • Has 3 pins, 1 major and 2 forfeits.

  • His one loss was to state qualifier.

Connor Naser:

  • Of his 6 wins, 4 are by forfeit and 2 are pins.

Cody Hamilton

  • One of the stars on the team. He has 5 pins and 1 major decision.

  • 30-9 last year; finished 3rd in region and went to states

Ian McCreary:

  • Has 4 pins. Last loss to was to Luke Gentile of Greenville

Hunter Hohman

  • We know he is the top performer for the Eagles. Whether he drops to 160, stays at 172 or bumps up to 189, his matchup will most likey be the match of the night.

  • 57-7 career record.

  • Defending District champ. 7th in state. Won 2 of 3 against Kane Kettering last year.

  • Has win over last year's 6th place state finisher at 189 (Sewart-Brockway). This is his only time not competing at 172 - indicating his move to 189 was just to wrestle Stewart.

Alex Hackwelder

  • His 2 wins are pins.

Adan Navarro

  • His 2 wins on the mat are pins (other 2 were forfeits). All 3 losses were by pin.

Now, I usually say, "Save me a seat.", but I will be taping the match and the hosts will have a seat in the crow's nest for me. Ryan Hills is unable to make the match. He mumbled something to me about having to work, paying the mortgage and feeding his family. Alas, we now know where his priorities are. Don't expect much in commentary from me. But I will at least try to keep you updated on the score and match time.
