The Legacy Club is excited to announce Colton Tupper as the 6th recipient of the coveted Neal Lineman Scholarship and Greyden Gustas as the 4th student to earn the prestigious Brian Hills Scholarship. The Legacy Club has awarded $32,000 in scholarships since starting the program in 2021.
Colton and Greyden were selected via a rigorous application process evaluating their academic, athletic and citizenship backgrounds as well as writing an essay describing how the legacy of the Reynolds wrestling program has influenced their lives.
These two young men were part of a strong group of senior leaders comprising this years' team; Raider Nation should be proud of all of them! The awards were presented at the annual Reynolds Wrestling Banquet sponsored by the Parents Boosters.
Colton Tupper was a three year starter on the varsity team while compiling a 104-36 record, including a stellar 47-7 record. He won two section titles, a district championship and finished 4th in the PIAA this year!
Ranked as the top student in his class, Colton is an excellent student and will continue his education by studying Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago, a world-renowned university. His essay for the application was the very best essay by any scholarship candidate since we started the Legacy Club.
Everyone that knows Colton agrees that he is just a “nice kid” but perhaps even a better example of this is the pre-state videos that Coach Hills posted on Facebook where wrestlers answered fun questions posted to them. For the query, “Which teammate would you let date your sister?”, almost everyone gave the nod to Colton. It was goofy fun but very telling when your peers think you are a good guy.
Greyden Gustas earned a 107-65 record as a four year starter. He reached the district finals two straight years and qualified for the state championships this year. Greyden was a positive, influential leader on the team and a consistent performer, shoring up the middle weights for the team.
Greyden is yet another great student and is planning to attend Penn State Behrend this fall and major in Business Finance. Again, like Colton, Greyden wrote one of the better essays we ever received in the scholarship process.
Personally, I have known these two young men as well as many of the team members since their elementary wrestling days. I have had a profound pleasure watching them grow as people – and athletes – over the years. Sure, being successful on the mat and winning helps but I have interacted with them in several social settings outside of the practice room and gyms. The community should be proud of the way they represent the school and their families.
Congratulations to Colton and Greyden!
